Les Rose is a Professor of Practice in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University. Prior to joining academia in 2016, he spent 38 years as a multi-award-winning photojournalist, including 30 years with CBS News and KCBS in Los Angeles. His extensive field experience spans coverage of Central American war zones for NBC News, a 23-year partnership with Steve Hartman, including seven of those years on CBS’s “Everybody Has a Story,” and decades of major national breaking news coverage. He is a passionate advocate for the First Amendment and has served as a volunteer instructor for decades at the Poynter Institute, the NPPA Television News Workshop, and the Student Television Network, dedicating his life to helping the next generation of journalists.
